Hawaiian Wedding & Kettlebell Training

Before I tell you about the free kettlebell training that I’m giving away at my private training studio here in Honolulu, I have some pretty BIG news to share…

I am now a married man! Kaoru and I shared a wedding ceremony with my sister, and her new husband Steve in Kona, Hawaii on August 7th.

Many of my family members flew over from the mainland to join us. It’s been 15 years since I’ve seen so many of my family members all in one place at the same time! I am so happy that my Grandpa is alive, and healthy enough to have made it over here to Hawaii for the wedding. You should have seen him dancing his @ss off at the reception! The man is over 90 years old, and he still knows how to get down! My Dad said he hasn’t seen Grandpa that happy in years!

We haven’t received the shots that the professional photographer took for us yet, but here’s a few that my cousin snapped.

Kukio Beach August 7th, 2010

The wedding took place at Kukio Beach, which is right next to Hualalai Resort, and The Four Seasons Resort in Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii.

At the request of my sister, my Uncle Maurice was ordained as a minister, and he performed both of our ceremonies. It was absolutely amazing! Uncle Maurice even did a Hawaiian chant at the beginning of the ceremony. Some of my very best childhood memories are in Uncle’s old Papaiko house, which is on the Hilo side of the Big Island.

Steve, my sister, and our cousins stayed with us in Honolulu for a few weeks.  They’re a pretty active bunch. We hiked Koko Head together, and they hiked Diamond Head while I was at work. I even took some of the family through a workout at my training studio while they were in town!

Enjoying a frosty, cold one right after the ceremony.

Come to this FREE KETTLEBELL WORKSHOP on September 8  & learn how to swing a kettlebell from an IKFF Certified Kettlebell Teacher!

Yup, Lance Armstrong is a swinger!

There are many good reasons to exercise with kettlebells. Kettlebells are small, compact, and portable. They are an extremely versatile tool, and you can get a lot more work done in less time when you exercise with them correctly. Kettlebells are extremely effective for melting away body fat, building functional strength, becoming more resistant to injury, increasing work capacity, and much, much more.

If you haven’t read the study on kettlebells published by the American Council on Exercise (A.C.E.) titled “Twice the Results in Half the Time”, I suggest you go have a look at that article right this moment. It’s a pretty easy read, and it should really open your eyes about the effectiveness of the kettlebell.

Check out the study on kettlebells here: http://www.acefitness.org/getfit/studies/kettlebells012010.pdf

The 2 arm kettlebell swing, and the one arm swing are great exercises all by themselves. Swinging is also the gateway to more advanced kettlebell exercises. Just as you must learn to walk before you can run, you must learn to swing a kettlebell before you can clean, or snatch a kettlebell safely, and efficiently.

On September 8 at 6pm, we’re going to be gathering at my studio for an hour, and learning how to swing kettlebells. Everyone that wants to attend this workshop will need to RSVP here: http://www.meetup.com/Oahu-Kettlebells/calendar/14596926/

Kettlbells are truly one of the greatest fitness tools I’ve EVER come across, and they have absolutely, positively changed the way that I train FOREVER. If you are wanting to learn how to use a kettlebell, this is a workshop you should not miss!!! I hope to see you at my studio swinging some kettlebells on September 8th at 6pm.
